Itinerary
The 3 day tour to Merzouga desert begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. From there, we journey through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi-N-Tichka pass. Along the way, we’ll stop to take in panoramic views of the breathtaking landscapes.
Next, we’ll visit the iconic Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified village has been the backdrop for numerous films such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series like Game of Thrones. Afterward, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, also known as “The Gate of the Desert,” where you’ll have free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Rose Valley and pass through the lush palm grove of Skoura before arriving in Boumalne Dades for an overnight stay.
On the second day of your Morocco desert tour, we begin by driving through the picturesque Dades Valley, with a stop at a scenic viewpoint to admire the dramatic landscape of the Dades Gorges. We then continue on to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a stunning red cliff-sided canyon through the mountains. You will have time to wander through the gorges and take in the beauty of this unique natural formation.
Following this, we journey through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with a break for lunch along the way.
In the afternoon, we arrive in the Sahara desert at Merzouga, where you’ll transition to camels and embark on an unforgettable ride across the golden sand dunes. We’ll pause to witness the magical sunset from atop a towering dune before heading to your luxury desert camp. There, you’ll be treated to traditional Berber drum music, dancing around the campfire, and enjoying the spectacular star-filled desert sky. Dinner and an overnight stay at the camp complete this unforgettable day.
Wake up early in the morning to witness the breathtaking sunrise in the heart of the desert, casting golden hues over the dunes. Afterward, enjoy some free time to savor a warm Moroccan breakfast. You’ll then return to Merzouga by camel or the camp’s 4×4, where your driver will be waiting.
Next, we head to Rissani, a town known for its vibrant and traditional souk. Following that, we continue through Alnif and drive along the scenic Draa Valley, eventually arriving in Ouarzazate. From there, we cross the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, taking in the stunning views as we make our way back to Marrakech. The 3-day desert tour concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
