Itinerary:
The 3 day Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins with an early pick-up from your accommodation or the airport in Marrakech. You will traverse the stunning High Atlas Mountains, passing through the winding Tizi-N-Tichka pass with stops along the way to take in the panoramic views of the breathtaking landscapes.
Your journey continues with a visit to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This iconic location has been featured in numerous films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the TV series Game of Thrones. From here, we travel to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gate of the Desert,” where you’ll have free time for lunch.
Afterward, the adventure leads through the enchanting Rose Valley and the expansive palm groves of Skoura before arriving at Boumalne Dades, where you’ll spend the night amidst the stunning landscapes.
After breakfast, we will drive through the mesmerizing Dades Valley, stopping at a viewpoint that offers sweeping vistas of the Dades Gorges’ dramatic rock formations. Next, we journey to the impressive Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a magnificent canyon with towering red cliffs. Take your time to wander through the gorges and marvel at the breathtaking scenery.
Continuing onward, we pass through the lush palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with a break for lunch along the way. By the afternoon, we’ll arrive in the magical Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Here, you’ll switch to camels and embark on a serene ride across the golden dunes. We’ll pause atop one of the highest dunes to watch the enchanting sunset paint the sands in warm hues.
As dusk settles, we’ll head to a luxurious desert camp where you can immerse yourself in the rhythm of Berber drum music and dance around a campfire under a brilliant canopy of stars. Dinner will be served, and you’ll spend a memorable night in the tranquility of the desert camp.
On the final day of your 3 day tour from Marrakech to Fes, rise early to witness the stunning sunrise over the desert dunes. After enjoying breakfast at camp, you’ll ride camels back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting. The journey then takes you to Rissani, once the capital of the Tafilalet region, and still a bustling trading hub. Explore its vibrant souk, especially lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Next, we visit Erfoud, known for its fossilized marble workshops. Continuing along the scenic Ziz River, we’ll stop to admire panoramic views of the lush Ziz Valley before heading to Midelt for lunch. Afterward, we’ll drive to the cedar forests, where you may encounter the playful Barbary macaques – feel free to feed them while exploring the serene surroundings.
Our final stops include a visit to Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its cool climate, snow, and picturesque alpine architecture. By the end of the day, we’ll drop you off at your accommodation or the airport in Fes, concluding your unforgettable 3-day desert adventure.
